Pheromone Ingredient: Androstenol

Androstenol is one of the "least powerful" human pheromones on the market. This doesn't make it any less useful than the other ingredients commonly used in pheromone colognes and perfumes, though, and in fact, most products containing androstenol tend to be far more versatile. Today, I take a look at what androstenol is, list some sample products that contain it, mark down potential changes that you might notice while using it, and suggest best-case scenarios for testing it on your peers.

What is Androstenol?

Androstenol(abbreviated "nol", "-NOL") is a pheromone found in fresh sweat of human males and females. It can also be found in boar saliva as stated in the androstenol Wikipedia entry. Because this compound is usually given off by sweat, the generally understood response to smelling it is belief that the wearer is in-shape and ready for reproduction. In this way, the wearer becomes more approachable due to subconscious sexual desires present in nearly all females and males. Androstenol has a very light, pine-like musky scent. Both sexes usually enjoy the scent, though not to the level a certain woman might enjoy androstenone.

Skeptics should note that there are still no truly double-blind, peer-reviewed studies on the effectiveness of androstenol. This is also the case with many other pheromones. This means that there is a possibility that pheromones don't work at all and that they give a good-smelling placebo effect. To engage in using these products, you must have an open mind. I do believe that androstenol has made a massive impact in my life, influencing how my friends and even random strangers act around me. I encourage you: make up your own mind.

Androstenol Pheromone Responses

Because of its versatility, more products have been released recently that make use of androstenol as a human pheromone ingredient. Personally, given my needs, androstenol is one of my favorite pheromones. If you have somewhat of an overbearing or argumentative personality, androstenol can bring peers into a more peaceful or docile state of mind when they are near you. Another hidden benefit is that the user himself (or herself) is also pulled into that same state of mind.

Pheromone colognes containing androstenol are proven to be very effective at getting those around you into a more relaxed, positive attitude. This makes it one of the very best to use in business situations or when you are looking to meet someone new. They won't be attracted to the pheromones as much, technically, which makes the attraction itself more real in whatever future relationship you might have with them. Because of these characteristics, I highly recommend androstenol to human pheromone newbies. I also recommend androstenol to people that want to get more out of human pheromones than just sex.

Finally, androstenol pheromones are hard to overdose, but too much of any scent will give people a headache, so I'd recommend (just like usual) building up the dosage to experiment with what works well for yourself. I find that one or two sprays/wipes of an androstenol pheromones product have only positive effects on time spent with others. If I use more than that I run the risk of people noticing/choking, ala the "Abercrombie Effect".

Pheromone Ingredient: Androsterone

If you want to attract all forms of attention, and not only a small percentage of ladies as with "-NONE", "-RONE" may be what you need. It has proven itself to me an excellent scent for bringing to parties, board meetings, and dates alike. Androsterone is one of my favorite pheromones due to its versatility. I've used it with great success pretty much everywhere.

What is Androsterone?

Androsterone ("rone", pronounced "ROAN") is another one of the older pheromones on the market, right beside androstenone. Wikipedia's entry on androsterone has some good information on the pheromone itself. Essentially, androstenone is an end result of Dehydroepiandrosterone, an adrenal hormone, breaking down. Dehydroepiandrosterone should not be confused with Pherlure's Di-Dehydroepiandrosterone, which, again, may or may not even exist.

In recent times, use of androsterone in different pheromone products has become more common. It is usually used as an additive to a more complete base mix, however. Below are some products containing androsterone from my sponsor, Love-Scent (feel free to skip if you buy elsewhere):

Androsterone Effects

Both sexes can use it effectively, but women should be careful not to overdose, or will make you smell a bit "manly". This effect is far less dramatic than with androstenone, however. Androsterone smells less like urine and more like sweat or slight body odor when overdosed, contrary to -NONE. Because of this, it is enjoyed by a larger sample of the population, so it is less risky to use. This makes it far more newbie-friendly, but a bit less targeted. Some people are more vulnerable to one than the other and only through isolation and experimentation with the individual will you be able to tell which pheromone works best.

Androsterone(-RONE) has been well documented to be an excellent ice-breaker, bringing even shy people into your social fold with great comfort. My personal advice would be to use androsterone when you are meeting someone for the first time - and then, not much of it. It is helpful in the workplace, allowing you to more easily achieve respect and admiration among your peers without making you seem like a rogue or an outcast like androstenone(-NONE) might do.

The only main drawback of androsterone is that it doesn't have powerful effects on many people. It is far more subdued, more "chill", especially in lower doses. You will probably want to mix in more pheromones once you have tested out its effects enough.

Top Five Reasons Pheromones Don't Work

You Purchased a Scam

I have many competitors that are also running review sites. Allow me to tell you what we all have in common: we want to make money. It's true! Do a search on affiliate links and you'll begin to understand what a mess much of the internet has become.

If you follow reviews religiously, you may find yourself with a product that doesn't contain pheromones but earns the owners of those review sites boatloads of cash.

On Pheromones Reviewer I promise that I will NEVER purposefully recommend a pheromone product that is a scam. Always be careful, folks. If it isn't working, it could be due to the product being fake.

Overconfidence and Bragging

Now that you're wearing pheromones, that doesn't mean you can just act like an ass and expect results. Don't talk down to anyone, girls or guys. Gentle confidence, a sense of humor (that is, not being too serious), and the ability to complement are important whether or not pheromones are in the equation. Be wary of overstepping your boundaries - but let them know with visual cues (smiling, winking, touching, whatever you like best) that you are available and desire them.

Overexpectations

Pheromones are very unlikely to produce miracles for you, so get that out of your head right now. They will not land you the hottest babe/dude on the planet just because you put them on. More often than not, the girl or guy you are trying to attract is simply not in the right mood or too tired for the pheromones to work properly. With repeat attempts and a bit of scientific experimentation (as best we can, of course), you WILL get results. But it takes time and patience, like with anything!

Revealing Your Secret

This is a problem I tend to have: when faced with a very simple choice, by default, I always tell the truth. I have difficulty with lying when face-to-face. If a girl or guy asks "what kind of cologne are you wearing?" you do not need to answer. Until you are in a steady relationship and they are attracted to more about you than just your smell (and yes that will happen), I believe it is ethically sound to simply pose another question or avoid it altogether. Only you can decide when to reveal that you've been using pheromone cologne or perfume. Wait until you are very comfortable with one another in the relationship (if it evolved into that).

For the record, I didn't have to deal with this problem with my current girlfriend, or I'd gladly offer advice. But I know her well enough now to know she wouldn't have cared anyways. She knows I'm a winner with or without an added smell. Find someone like that, and you are bound to be happy.

TOP REASON: You Over-Applied

Have you ever tried talking to a girl that has an absolutely overpowering, dizzying perfume? In this kind of situation, you feel sick, not turned on. This effect is only compounded for pheromones because they have the potential to change a person's behavior entirely. It is very important that you never screw this up with a person you want to date. What is worse - coming across as a normal person, or acting like a smelly jerk? Always err on the side of caution with pheromones. The risk is not worth it unless you will be near total strangers and just don't care.

Pheromone Ingredient: Androstenone

It's important to understand what you are going to be receiving when you purchase a human pheromones cologne or perfume to know how it will affect a member of the opposite sex. Depending on the day, you may wish to select different scents to get different reactions. Here, I take a look at Androstenone.

What is Androstenone?

Androstenone (Abbreviation "none", prounounced "NOAN") is the traditional and original pheromone. It is generally only useful for men, as the percentage of men that are able to smell it is much lower than that of women. Moreover, some people do not enjoy the smell at all. It may have a reek of urine or remind one of a light forest aftershave, and this is entirely dependent on a person's genetics. While androstenone has not proven itself in any peer-reviewed studies (see Wikipedia), I personally have seen some strange results while using it, skepticism aside.

Many human pheromone colognes make heavy use of androstenone, as it was one of the first shown to enhance attraction. Here are some androstenone pheromone containing products offered at Love-Scent, one of my sponsors:

Androstenone Responses

A very select and small number of women are highly responsive to androstenone. That is, these women may find themselves completely unable to control their sexual desire to a man if they smell it on him. However, it can very easily be overapplied, and great caution should be taken to avoid such a situation. If too much androstenone is used, women and men alike become extremely annoyed and in my experience, feel very intimidated. In this fashion, the situation becomes similar to cornering an animal. They make verbally or even physically strike back at you if you are not careful. In addition to the social problems that can take place, if you use a lot, you smell like urine, and it isn't fun. I'm naturally a little more of an egomaniac (sadly), so I only rarely use it in special concert situations, etc.

However, if you are a more shy person that seems to blend into the bunch, androstenone cologne can be very effective. Always try a tiny amount first to experiment. I would recommend the use of other pheromones before working your way up to this stuff, especially because many men can't smell androstenone at all and you risk the danger of overdosing.

For those of you seeking an advantage in corporate environments, don't use this pheromone. It has adverse effects on other men and can easily bring up jealousy and rivalry between you and your male (and sometimes female) co-workers. Also, women should definitely avoid androstenone unless you are lesbian and seeking to attract a very "feminine" type of girl.

Look for more ingredient descriptions soon, including some you've never even heard of that are only recently making their way to the market.

Pheromones Scams

Today, I'll give a fake human pheromones case study. I'll explain how to avoid potential scams or "snake oil" pheromone products. For your added viewing pleasure, I'll also be showing detailed pictures of a scam that I was fooled into buying about two years ago when I started with my research on pheromones. Hopefully you can learn from this misstep not to trust just anyone in the pheromone business.

Attract Mate: What is it?

Around two years ago, I decided to purchase a few different pheromone products to do some research on whether this "pheromone thing" was real or not. Among the first human pheromones I purchased was Attract Mate. Immediately after receiving a bottle of Attract Mate pheromones, I gave them a try. When it was applied, I realized there was no cologne smell. In fact, there wasn't a smell at all. This didn't worry me at first, as I figured I just couldn't smell the pheromones that were in it. However, later I became more worried. After lots of research, I wasn't able to find a source that listed the ingredients of what human pheromones were in Attract Mate, either.

Attract Mate Bottle

This quickly became a mystery. These pheromones were also not working at all, when the others that I had purchased were (at least little bit). After several emails to customer support and not receiving even a single response, I noticed something strange about the Attract Mate label...

Attract Mate Label

Two-Faced Pheromones

There was an inside label...and an outside label. Did the machine that labels these human pheromones make a mistake and accidentally apply two? That seemed unlikely, so I pressed further, carefully removing the outer label and comparing everything between the two. What I found was revolting.

Click on the pictures of the pheromone's labels for full resolution shots. Now compare the application instructions for the two labels. Attract Mate Outer Label As you can see, the two Attract Mate labels are wildly, stupidly different. One says to apply "under the tongue" (?!) and the other one says to spray or add to cologne. Basically, this is not a human pheromone product at all. It definitely doesn't have any pheromones in it, and is probably salt water. This made me feel absolutely vulnerable as a human pheromones customer. If it weren't for my simultaneous purchase of Alter-Ego, I would have lost all faith in human pheromones. Attract Mate Inner Label I was PISSED to find this out after spending sixty bucks on this crap. Conveniently, Attract Mate fell of the face of the planet about two months after this wonderful ordeal. Even though these weren't pheromones, and I was misled, I'll never get my money back. Yes, I believe that this is illegal somehow, but it's the internet, folks. As always, buyer beware. This is one of the reasons Pheromones Reviewer exists.

In this article, I didn't review a new pheromone cologne for you. I also didn't write a ton of research about existing types of pheromones, either. Knowing how to avoid scams like this is just as important, everyone. Be careful, or you'll never buy pheromones again - and miss out on something unimaginably good - because of the few rotten pheromone companies in the bunch. Be careful.
