Scent of Eros Review

Scent of Eros was one of the first pheromones available at Love-Scent. Created by James Kohl, the author of the book by the same name, this pheromone cologne has elicited responses much like my previously reviewed Chikara. I really like Scent of Eros pheromones, but I feel that Chikara seems to provoke nearly the same response more effectively. I'll elaborate below, but if you want, you can skip right to the Scent of Eros pheromones score.

Scent of Eros pheromones review

This product has a sharp, fruitlike scent to it. It's a tiny bit musky, but overall, very refreshing. I personally like the smell, but it seems less "rich" than both Chikara and Alter-Ego pheromone colognes. Just about everyone I've shown it to like it, but it's usually somewhere in the middle of the group. When I had my mom smell it, she said it smelled almost exactly like my brother. Weird.

Scent of Eros: Ingredients

As far as I can tell, the pheromones in Scent of Eros are a four to one ratio of androstenol and androsterone, respectively. Because there are only two pheromones, it can easily be used as part of a mix or cocktail. Because it lacks androstenone or other more powerful(sometimes dangerous) ingredients, however, I've found it to be useful in situations where you want to lighten the mood but not necessarily attract a mate.

Scent of Eros open bottle

Scent of Eros has a simple, to-the-point design. The label is a white background with black and red lettering. The ingredients are not listed on the product. The bottle has a roll-top applicator which makes it easy to apply a small amount. This helps to avoid overdosing.

I haven't been able to find Scent of Eros pheromones anywhere but Love-Scent. This leads me to believe that they are the primary and possibly only distributor of the product. Even the designer's main page links only to Love-Scent. Because of this, it seems a bit exclusive.

Scent of Eros Research

I have found SoE to be a great friendmaking tool - but nothing more - when used by itself. It seems to catalyze friendly communication between strangers when I apply a liberal amount (three swipes/passes with the applicator on my neck) and has little noticeable effect at all with lower dosages (one pass). Because the effects are much slighter than with an overbearing product like Primal Instinct, it has been harder for me to try to isolate situations that were directly changed by Scent of Eros cologne.

One situation that was particularly notable was (three days ago) on "Independence Day" here in the USA. I went to the DECC on Lake Superior at 4:00pm to get a spot to see the fireworks later that night. I had applied Scent of Eros pheromones at 3:35pm. Feeling a slight "friendly pheromone buzz" in myself as we arrived, I figured that it was about all I'd get from other people, too. I was surprised to notice several "stares" or "long smiles" I got from girls that looked back at me as I looked back at them. Most of them were my age or younger. Also, most of them had boyfriends (doh!). It lasted for about 3 hours before it wore off. I re-applied at 8:00pm and noticed similar effects again for a while near the fairground. It was pretty hot out; we could probably attribute the short effectiveness timeframe to excessive sweating on my part. It was a good night.

Scent of Eros Score:

7 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

I like Scent of Eros. It's earns a healthy rating from me. I noticed some benefits from wearing it, and they were generally positive. SoE's only drawback is that it isn't particularly powerful. I'm still glad it's a part of my collection.

If you want to buy Scent of Eros, you can pick it up at Love-Scent.

Chikara Review

Featuring seven different types of human pheromones, Chikara has one of the most exotic yet universally applicable aromas I've ever worn. The original name for this product was Chikara 7. I was surprised, immediately, by how clean and even "dignified" it smelled. The only other product that smells close to this good to me is Alter-Ego.

This review contains what I presume to be a lot of information on Chikara including some of my own stories and opinions from my friends. Allow me to ruin the surprise and be frank: I see no reason why I won't continue using Chikara pheromones for the rest of my life based on how it makes everyone (including myself) feel.

Chikara Pheromones: Ingredients

The makers of Chikara claim that the product has seven types of pheromones in it, hence the original name. Three of them are androstenone (not much), androsterone, and androstenol. The other four are newer and are apparently kept secret from the public for various reasons. One of Chikara's four hidden pheromones may be the secret to its success in my testing, but I'm really just not sure. Since I have no idea how to isolate these organic chemicals, I really don't have any way of telling what is inside.

Chikara Cologne Review

Check out the bottle above. As you can see, the Chikara pheromones logo is simple but expressive and unique. I like the slim bottle itself, too. It has a simple and foolproof spray-top, so you apply it like any normal cologne. The container itself is thin and fits in any of my pockets quite easily, though the cap doesn't go on as tightly as it should. Hopefully they'll fix this in Chikara's later product revisions.

Chikara pheromones are manufactured (and distributed) by Love-Scent, according to the label on the back. This makes Chikara somewhat of an exclusive product, which I am usually very wary of. As a pleasant surprise, however, there seems to be very little over-the-top marketing with Chikara that you'll find with most other exclusive products (Pherlure, anyone?).

  • Note: I always try to avoid pheromones with lots of salesmanship, as they are generally related inversely to the human pheromone products' actual legitimacy (that is, more marketing = less actual product). Though I regard it as an "exclusive" product, that is, a product available from only one place, Chikara has almost none of the sales crap. See my article about human pheromone scams for more information. Cool!

Chikara Pheromone Experiences

While wearing Chikara, I notice, immediately, a very strange but real sensation. Everyone near me is nice to me. Everyone. After a fresh pheromone application, strangers are always uncommonly nice, especially at the bank I normally visit. The odd effect is that my friends are even nicer. I had a bunch of people over this weekend to hang out and I wore Chikara just about the entire time. I told some of them that I was wearing it, but I'm sure they ended up forgetting. Either way, I felt a calming sensation of power within me while we were all debating philosophy, religion, etc, and having lots of fun. I don't think I've had so much fun in my entire life. While I doubt it was just the Chikara human pheromones I wore, they were one of many factors. Most interestingly, I found that the group dynamics would change entirely based on whether or not I had just put fresh Chikara on. This is completely insane and I still don't understand why they were correlated so perfectly.

My girlfriend loves Chikara cologne. In fact, it is her number one favorite out of all of my pheromones (other than my own natural ones, of course). It is ludicrously convenient, then, that it is also my favorite - and the favorite of everyone getting pheromones at Love-Scent.

The biggest reason I have to believe that Chikara actually works is that I could theoretically stop using it, and people around me (not smelling the pheromones) are less comfortable and more edgy again. In fact, that's exactly what I did today. I went to Subway to grab a bite to eat with my roommate, and the people there were impersonal robot jerks. We got some gas, and I attempted to form a conversation with the register guy when I bought a two-liter of Cherry Pepsi. I couldn't even get him to crack a smile, and he hardly uttered a word. Even my friend and I weren't talking as much as we normally do. Finally, my girlfriend Jocelyn (she told me to include this) got angry today. We had an argument. Of course, this stuff happens to everyone, and it might have had nothing to do with anything. Besides, I'm only one person, and you should see what others are saying too! As always, I'll have to keep testing my pheromone colognes.

Chikara Pheromones

If you enjoyed this review, and furthermore, enjoy using pheromones even nearly as much as I do, please support me by purchasing this product from Love-Scent's pheromone store. I earn money to keep this site going and growing when you purchase pheromones through my links to them. If you value my dedication and services, it would be thoughtful of you to help me out. If you decide to bring your business elsewhere, no harm done, and I really hope you still end up enjoying pheromone colognes and perfumes - especially ones as awesome as Chikara.

Chikara Pheromones Score:

9 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

Chikara pheromones are amazing. There is a reason they are Love-Scent's highest selling product. They are the very best pheromones I've ever used (as of June 2008). While they are not perfect for every occasion, they are by far the most versatile in my collection. I would recommend them strongly as a first choice for any guy that wants to experiment with changing the behavior of females and males alike in his presence. I have witnessed the strange calming effects this has on friends, family, and even complete strangers alike, and since it is much harder to overdose with Chikara than other products, it is extremely noob-friendly.

The cologne additives are also excellent, making Chikara pheromones nearly flawless for the workplace. It should help bring your boss down to your level - or perhaps bring you up to his. Be careful, though, and don't get too cocky.

When girls feel relaxed, they are more vulnerable and their personal guard is down. Chikara certainly aids in this, showing them much more quickly that you are NOT some random asshole. Suddenly, you can be trusted. Remember, however, that it is always up to you to decide when to try your luck. While Chikara pheromones have given me some serious results, but the reactions I have gotten from women are, in general, less sexual overall. You may wish to mix this with something slightly more powerful if you are looking for a one-night stand or something similar.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Review

With an objective but arduous name, Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate (APC, for short) has enjoyed popularity for several years. Because of the use of androstenone in the product, it has a scent similar to Primal Instinct (PI). Users have reported that the two do not smell the same, even in unscented versions. Perhaps it is the process at which the two are extracted that makes them so different. Maybe it has to do with the difference of impurities in each. It could be both. The fact remains, however, that Primal Instinct and Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate should theoretically have very similar effects on women since they claim to have the same active ingredient. We'll see about that.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Review

Product Information

APC, as I will refer to it, seems to have a more "synthetic" smell to it than PI. It is a bit lighter, and seems to have less extreme reactions from both sexes when smelled right out of the bottle. The 20/80 ratio of like to dislike is back, similar to PI - just not nearly as pronounced on either side. While my girlfriend hates PI out of the bottle, she doesn't detest APC as much. I feel about the same way. My mother liked Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate less than PI, but she preferred these two over all the others I had with me.

I really don't like the branding on the package featured in the top picture. Featuring sexist marketing crap on the packaging and entirely unnecessary "blister-wrap" plastic housing, it is obvious that this product is meant to be in novelty stores. In addition to that, the amount of pheromones in APC is minimal at best (according to reviews and forums at Love-Scent). Human Pheromone users generally report APC as being very weak. This collective opinion aligns well with the price point of $30 ($20 elsewhere on the net) and my own findings. I could not find a company website, but googling "IPD Inc Wichita KS" shows their location on Google Maps, and from that you can retrieve their phone number if you want to contact them.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Ingredients

This product says it contains "concentrated human pheromones" on the back label. The listing is as follows: Di-Propylene Glycol (Styrax Benzoin), Essential Oils, Fragrance, Concentrated Human Pheromones. Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate does seem to smell like PI in a strange way. I can verify that it definitely seems to have at least a small amount of androstenone in it due to that smell alone.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Ingredients

Remember that androstenone is the very worst pheromone to overapply. The scent on APC is very strong, too, so one or two drops from the dropper cap should generally do the trick. Consider that the overall look of APC is very similar to PI down to even the way it is applied. Everything is the same, and I'm pretty sure PI came first. Blue bottle, black cap, dropper dispenser on the top, silver label with red lettering. The phrase "WTF" came up frequently in my mind when I got the products simultaneously in the mail.

My Experiences with APC

To put things simply and bluntly,I haven't noticed a single reaction yet. I've been using APC over the course of three days. I went to the post office, my old college, friends' places, gas stations, and a bar. I'm always very aware and alert to people's reactions, but I haven't gotten even a single glance out of the ordinary. The big old lady at the Holiday station talked about how horrible the weather has been lately, but she has done that many times on and off pheromones. I still have to try going to the fitness center with these on, but I'm really not expecting much, as it is just tortuous to expect reactions when none are given. I feel ashamed to have spent money on this stuff and it pisses me off that Love-Scent even carries crap like this. If I notice anything different in future tests, I'll add an edit to this post near the top and adjust the score as necessary. With what I've seen thus far, I'm not expecting much.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Ingredients

While I personally like the scent just a tiny bit better than PI, it still smells pretty bad. In contrast with its competitor, however, Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate doesn't seem to work on anyone I know. This product is cheaper for a very substantial and immediately apparent reason.

Two older women I know seem to like this scent a little more than average when they smell it from the bottle. Girls closer to my age, however, seem to have serious problems with smelling APC from the bottle, especially my girlfriend. I'm not sure what this might mean, but as I've stated many times, this product simply doesn't stack up to its competition well.

If you really want to purchase this stuff, feel free to get it from Love-Scent if you want to support me. However, you definitely shouldn't have problems finding APC elsewhere, as their distribution model seems as strikingly effective as their marketing. Love-scent asks a higher price than other places for Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate, but they are very secure and Bruce, the owner, is a good guy.

Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate Pheromones Score

2 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

Being as generous as I could, Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate only earns two stars. Going past the marketing, attempted product cloning, and low price, I have seen no results at all with various amounts of APC applied. The only reason it gets two stars is because my mother liked it and I have to consider the possibility that other older women might be alright with it too. I still couldn't advise anyone to purchase this product, since PI and many other products are better in nearly every conceivable way.

Primal Instinct Review

Primal Instinct is one of the oldest pheromone products available on the pheromones market today. After my recent testing, I finally feel qualified to quantify in this review. Primal Instinct is available at many places, but if you wish to support my research (yes, another shameless plug, please forgive me), pick up your bottle of Primal Instinct pheromones from Love-Scent. As always, your help is appreciated!

Primal Instinct Review

Primal Instinct's Pheromone Ingredients

Primal Instinct pheromones contain, almost exclusively, one ingredient: androstenone. There are two versions of this pheromone cologne available: scented (Ylang-Ylang), and unscented. I got the scented pheromones, since I prefer to test for individual effectiveness. The very first scent that came to mind when I opened the bottle and took a whiff was that of cat urine. There may also have been a hint of rotten fruit about it, too. My mother really liked Primal Instinct, when I opened it, though. She described it as smelling a bit like pine with just a hint of flowers. At first I thought she was just joking to mess with me, but after more research, I found out that this phenomenon is commonplace for pheromone colognes, especially those with androstenone in them. It all has to do with evolution and genetics.

Experiences with Primal Instinct

As noted above, I personally hate the smell that Primal Instinct pheromones give off. I find it to be really gross. The word "revolting" comes to mind. But as always, it's not about what I think. It's about what others think.

When I was working out four days ago with 2 drops of Primal Instinct on my neck, I noticed some polarized reactions among the young women in my area. One girl with brown hair walked by me completely and avoided looking at me (this is pretty common, haha) until I had passed. She looked back to see me glancing at her, smiling. The best thing about this whole situation was the look on her face - she suddenly looked just shocked. Since she was staring at me now, though, and making me a bit uncomfortable, I just looked around casually and went downstairs to lift weights. When I came back, she was still there, and I got another strangely long stare.

However, during that test day, Primal Instinct turned off far more people than it turned on. Many people were frowning around me and looked as grossed out as I was at the smell (even though I was very careful not to overapply). I certainly got strong reactions on both ends of the spectrum, but the ratio was about 20% good to 80% bad.

After more testing with some of my older friends and asking which of my newer scents they seem to like the best, Primal Instinct is regularly near the top. Many of them seem to think it smells more "manly" and "musky" than the other scents I have with the only main competitor to Primal Instinct being Androstenone Pheromone Concentrate (which I'll soon review). Primal Instinct Pheromones

As I continue to test this product, I'll update this page to show newer findings about Primal Instinct with you. The same is true for all of my products. Don't you agree that time is a necessary factor to consider before we reach conclusions?

Product Information

Primal Instinct comes in a blue dropper cap bottle, shown throughout this review. If the weather is cold where you live, the drops may come out very slowly, and you'll just have to be patient. I've found that tipping it more to the side as opposed to straight upside-down makes it go a little faster. The cap on the bottle is made so it doesn't easily come off accidentally. This is a smart idea. as I've witnessed, Primal Instinct is extremely powerful, good or bad.

Ingredients in the product are slim, but are listed on the back. It didn't come in any packaging, and that's fine by me, as it means less waste. Finally, if you wish to order Primal Instinct, you can support my efforts and get it from my trustworthy sponsor Love-Scent. Otherwise, just google it and pick it up somewhere else if you wish.

Primal Instinct Pheromones Score

6 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

I've read that Primal Instinct has been around for a long time; perhaps a bit too long, as it doesn't work as well as some pheromones I've tested. I have no doubt that Primal Instinct actually works, but only on the right girl. I'm not a gambling man, and if you aren't, either, I'd advise to attempt a different product, especially if this is your first purchase. If you're trying to attract an older woman, I think Primal Instinct pheromones would be a decent choice, as most of my older friends seem to notice only the good parts of this aroma. This is one area where I'm particularly curious about this product, as I've read similar findings elsewhere.

For those of us who are around the younger crowd, there are much better pheromone colognes available, and ones that are far more likely to yield rewarding results.

Alter-Ego Review

Alter-Ego is a male pheromone cologne that I, personally, have been using for the last two years in college. Based on my personal experiences with it(which I will gladly share here), I feel more than qualified to say it definitely works better than any regular cologne. Alter-Ego is the reason I still use pheromones.

Alter-Ego Pheromone Ingredients

Alter-Ego is a very concentrated pheromone cologne. You apply it with an included eyedropper. It shouldn't take more than two or three drops to work. It also shouldn't be mixed with a cologne, as it already has a scent for attraction. Alter-Ego is comprised of an original cologne along with the following concentrations of pheromone ingredients: 0.020% androstenone (-none, for the experts), 0.015% androstenol (-nol), and 0.010% androsterone (-rone). You can find each of these specific types of pheromones on wikipedia if I don't have a faq about them posted in my Pheromones Information and Research section.

Alter-Ego Pheromones Review

Above is my bottle of Alter-Ego, heavily used. As you can see, the packaging on this pheromone product is boring. Also, the product doesn't have its own website and is not sold exclusively. I believe it is just distributed to pheromone storefronts in much the same way as electronics. Finally, it is expensive for human pheromones ($49.99). Clearly, there are many areas the makers of Alter-Ego could improve on.

My Alter-Ego Experiences

The most important aspect to any pheromone product is whether or not it works. Ironically, this is one of the only areas that Alter-Ego pheromones truly succeed in. I have a few stories below that exemplify this and showcase its amazing abilities.

Last year, I worked at the computer help desk at my college. I decided that I would put Alter-Ego human pheromones to the test by wearing some at work. I put on two drops of the pheromones just above my ears in my hair, and rubbed it in before I put my baseball cap on.

Thumbs up to Alter-Ego - it works well!

The entire day was absolutely bizarre. I don't feel like I'm a very good-looking guy, but I was recieving strange, even unwanted levels of attention. For example, I fixed one girl's laptop that day in about five minutes. It was really quick - but after I was done, not only would she not leave, but she wouldn't stop staring at me and smiling. It was really awkward for me. Eventually she left, but not without giving me her number. I still feel bad, as I'm sure she thought I was interested.

Later we got a call from a "regular", one of the faculty members that calls us all the time and then chews us out about terrible technology when we arrive to assist her. I wasn't excited at all and had completely forgotten that I was wearing human pheromones. When I arrived with the typical fake smile on my face asking what she needed, things were exactly like before. I walk over and she tells me how stupid Word is and how she keeps doing things that break it. I ended up not even fixing her problem, and under any normal situation, she would just spit with anger and bitterness. However, she suddenly completely changed. She started asking me all kinds of weird questions, like how I was doing in school, what year I was, etc. She was exploding in laughter at dumb jokes and smiling all the time. WEIRD. After about ten minutes of small talk and attempts to say goodbye four times I got the feeling she was just trying really hard to stall me. Remember that I had helped this professor close to twenty times in the past and this had never happened... Needless to say, after that, I've been much more careful about when I apply Alter-Ego or any pheromone colognes.

Unfortunately, I wasn't attracted to either of these two people, but they were the first impressions I had with my first uses of the product about a year ago. My girlfriend really loves this stuff and always asks what she's smelling with a craving voice. It takes some getting used to. I've been seeing other strangely powerful and lasting effects on women since I bought it, too. It's really fun.

My Alter-Ego Pheromone Bottle - half left or so

Alter-Ego Pheromones Score:

8 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

While the packaging is bland, and they are expensive, Alter-Ego pheromones work like no other I've ever tested. I've been continually impressed with these pheromones over the last year, noticing longer stares, more smiles, and more interest from many women (of all ages). This rating is well-deserved and I can heartily recommend this pheromone cologne to new and old users alike. They miss two stars because Alter-Ego doesn't work equally well on all women. I'll revise the score after more reviews are completed.

If you'd like to support my hard work, please buy the product from Love-Scent. Love-Scent has been a very trustworthy seller of human pheromones in my experience, and they have many more products available than just Alter-Ego.

Pherlure Review

By now, if you've been doing in-depth research on pheromone colognes, you've probably come across a product called Pherlure. Read this article carefully if you were looking to buy it. As always, my critique of Pherlure pheromones attempts to be entirely neutral but informative.

Pherlure Review

The creators of Pherlure describe the product as a male pheromone cologne with a unique active ingredient: Di-Dehydroepiandrosterone. Pherlure's creators tell us that this special pheromone, in addition to the cologne elements of the mix, are supposed to attract women. There are many seemingly neutral sources on the net that seem to back Pherlure's claims, and as such, this product has grown rampantly popular.

Pherlure's Pheromone Ingredients

If you plan to research Pherlure's site, make sure you separate the product from the marketing. Pherlure pheromones have been around in the human pheromone scene for some time. They have become more and more aggressive at showing off their product on the sales page over the years. Finally, they have an army of affiliates at their disposal recommending this product for some quick cash.

There are even sites such as this one that I have come to believe as propaganda sites (potentially ran by Pherlure themselves) attempting to further boost Pherlure's sales. This is a strong part of Pherlure's business model and makes them easy to find. As a result, pheromone products by Pherlure are near the top of Google's searches when you look for pheromones online.

Back of Pherlure Box

Let's dig a little deeper: what is this Di-Dehydroepiandrosterone pheromone ingredient? If you google it, you'll notice that it's not listed as a common ingredient in pheromone products. Pherlure seems to proudly brand their pheromones with it as if it were a new, superior type of attractant. Here is some research showing that di-dehydroepiandrosterone is not a pheromone and that it might not even be a real chemical. After reading that, my trust in Pherlure pheromones dropped significantly. It's too bad this kind of stuff is still common in our world.

My Pherlure Experience

I purchased my bottle of pherlure approximately one year ago. I bought what I thought were pheromones for the full $59.95 plus shipping. My frequent visits to their page tell me that the pheromones sometimes often go on sale for $39.95. If you have your heart set on purchasing Pherlure, make sure you at least get them for the cheaper price.

Pherlure Pheromones Product

All of this negativity and hard evidence aside, Pherlure seems to smell at least decent to some of the young women I know personally. My girlfriend enjoys the smell, but it doesn't give her weird goosebumps or shivers like some of my other pheromone colognes do. My best guess is that Pherlure Pheromones are a generic, rebranded cologne without any real pheromones in them. If it weren't for the jacked-up price, there wouldn't be anything wrong with that. Know that you are probably not buying a pheromone cologne, but a novelty product.

What is actually in Pherlure? Does it really contain this proprietary Di-Dehydroepiandrosterone pheromone? My intuition tells me to err on the side of caution when it comes to money. My suggestion here is to check out the many other pheromone colognes and pheromone perfumes available on the market.

Pherlure Affiliate Program

If you know how to make websites and want to make money promoting Pherlure pheromone cologne, signup for their affiliate program. Don't ask me how to make websites though, as I'm kind of a noob myself.

Pherlure Pheromones Score:

3 / 10 stars

Pheromones Reviewer Says:

Avoid Pherlure if you intend to purchase a real pheromone cologne. As far as my research shows, it doesn't actually have any real pheromones in it, and as my evidence site mentioned, any perceived benefits could be placebo. There are plenty of other real pheromones products on the market, some of which have worked scarily well for me. Many products at Love-Scent contain various real pheromones, and I'll be reviewing some shortly.
